The Kansas City Business Journal is a local media outlet owned by national newspaper chain, American City Business Journals that delivers the daily news to over 30,000 print and digital subscribers in the Kansas City area. Each year The Business Journal selects a number of businesses that are leaders in their industry, innovative, headquartered in Kansas City and committed to giving back to the community to receive the Champions of Business Award. Valorem is honored to have been selected for our first Champions of Business Award this year and recognized for our innovative work and partnerships with local philanthropic organizations.
Giving back to our community is a strong part of the Valorem culture. We are motivated by a common desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others not only through the cutting-edge work we do but also by giving our time, resources and talents to those in need. Our charitable foundation, Valorem Gives, has a staff-led Board of Directors who lead the charge in identifying local organizations where our efforts can have the most impact and organizing events to support them. In addition to Valorem Gives events, a vast number of our employees are independently active with organization and causes they are passionate about. You can find donation bins right now throughout our KC Headquarters where staff can donate clothing, toiletries and other living essentials to the homeless community through the local grass roots organization, Free Hot Soup KC. And many of our staff volunteer their time and food to the organization's pop-up kitchens that serve meals to those in need throughout the city.
