AI for Good is a nonprofit organization that focuses on creating impact by bringing together a broad network of interdisciplinary researchers, nonprofits, governments, and corporate actors to identify, prototype, and scale solutions that engender positive change. In collaboration with the government of France, AI for Good sought Microsoft and Valorem Reply’s expertise in creating an innovative user experience that could effectively communicate the historical significance of the events in 1944 ranging from the Normandy landings to the Liberation of Paris. The digital experience includes a mapping tool, a visualization of events, and an interactive AI knowledge base which will be launched in conjunction with a physical exhibit that will travel among the historical sites in France in recognition of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings along the Normandy coast in World War II. Thanks to the transformative impact of Azure OpenAI, this project exemplifies the potential to enhance our connection to the past and gain a deeper understanding of historical events.
